Gielgud Theatre

The Gielgud Theatre opened over 100 years ago in 1906, originally named the Hicks Theatre. The first ever production on stage was The Beauty of Bath by Seymour Hicks. who the theatre was named after, and Cosmo Hamilton.

With a rich history of drama, music and comedy, over a century since opening the the Gielgud Theatre was home to To Kill A Mockingbird in 2022. Based on the Pulitzer Prize winning novel by Harper Lee, the play was a huge success.

Of all the famous stars to have taken to the Gielgud stage, the most famous of all has been the theatre cat, Beerbohm. The cat became so famous that it received a front-page obituary in The Stage in 1995.
